BSAC instructor-led training
Potteries Divers offers training to members free of charge with the exception of the purchase of training materials and the costs of personal needs such as travel, meals and accommodation.
Provided that we hold the appropriate sizes in our extensive kit store we will also supply all necessary equipment for scuba-diving first-level qualification pool training: mask; fins; snorkel; air cylinders; regulators; buoyancy compensator. This equipment is also suitable and available for first-level open water training but would require the addition of a dry-suit as the final stages of such training takes place outdoor in UK quarries.
Members are often willing to lend trainees dry-suits, or suits may be rented from the locations where open water training takes place if the trainee doesn't want to commit to an outright purchase at this time. Air cylinder refills are free to club members.
Internationally Recognised Qualifications
All instruction follows the BSAC Diver Training Programme and adheres to BSAC standards. The programme is designed to build confidence and self-reliance, whilst keeping safety uppermost. Delivery of training via this programme results in all our divers gaining internationally accepted BSAC qualifications on successful completion of the training course.
The instruction is highly personalised, usually one-to-one, paced to suit individual needs and is provided free of charge by qualified volunteer instructors. Instruction is supported by comprehensive training materials for self-study and post-training revision. Scuba training is only available to persons 12 years and above as stipulated by BSAC regulations. Snorkelling training is, however, open to all ages. Snorkelling is great fun, easy to learn and an ideal way to build up confidence in the water. For younger members of the family, snorkelling is also a great introduction to underwater sports and can be their first step towards learning to dive.
