Potteries Divers BSAC 12
Who we are
Potteries Divers BSAC Branch 12 is a branch of the British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC) which is the sport’s National Governing Body and the UK's leading dive club, with over 30000 members. Potteries Divers was formed in 2010 through the merger of two long established clubs; North Staffordshire Divers BSAC 12 and Potteries Sub-Aqua Club BSAC 1935. Since then the club has seen membership increase year on year, with the members' gifts and talents generating an active and vibrant BSAC branch. The club is non-profit, with all instruction provided free by qualified instructor members. We have both male and female instructors, each of which has passed a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Our BSAC training programme ensures that all qualifications gained through the club are internationally recognised. We are virtually self-reliant in the training, diving and skills development which we can offer via our club facilities; two Rigid Inflatable Boats, a compressor for free air and nitrox cylinder filling, plus a wide array of scuba equipment available for loan to members. UK and international diving The club organises regular dive trips in and around the UK for members, and annually to more exotic overseas locations. We carry out both wreck and scenic diving, and have members who share an interest in underwater video and photography, capturing the beauty of the underwater world around us. Whether you prefer diving on the battleships of Scapa Flow or the ghost fleet of Chuuk Lagoon, with the grey seals of the Farne Islands or the whale sharks and manta rays of Maldives, Potteries Divers has something for you. |
Where and when
We hold a weekly pool session every Thursday from 7.30pm to 8.30pm at the Trentham Community Sports Centre in Trentham High School, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. Here members can come to progress their BSAC Training, practice their skills, try out new kit or just have a social swim. Many members bring their children and start them off snorkelling; as well as scuba diving we offer snorkelling training and qualifications. The Toby Carvery Trentham Village, Trentham, Staffordshire doubles up as our clubhouse and we follow the pool session with a social gathering in the lounge bar each week. This is a great opportunity for a post training de-briefing; planning our next dive trip; discussing diving kit and experiences; or just a general chat with friends. Our Committee holds monthly meetings at our clubhouse on the second Tuesday of the month, with the Annual General Meeting held at the beginning of the year. The AGM enables club members to review the previous years activities; plan for the coming year; and elect the Committee Officers. All welcome We welcome all ages to the club; our members range from seven year old snorkellers to seventy-four year old scuba divers. If you have a physical disability then provided you can pass the BSAC fit-to-dive medical we will endeavour to find a way to introduce you to diving. For details of our meeting places and directions to them, please take a look at our Find Us page. |
